To make this more engaging, try to find an interesting case that you would like to share with the class:
1) Find an example of a malpractice court case. Briefly summarize the case, then state how the four elements of negligence are met, or maybe were not met, and this defendant won the case. Be detailed and specific. What type of negligence was the case about – misfeasance, malfeasance, or nonfeasance?
2) Find a case relating to informed consent to treat. Cases related specifically to consent to treatment are typically the most interesting. Briefly summarize the case. Was the patient given adequate informed consent? If not, what was lacking in the consent? What was so important about the informed consent that made it an issue in this case? Be detailed and specific.
